The project is implemented by the Autonomous Non-profit Organization “Russia - the Land of Opportunities” and the Coordinating Council for Youth in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council on Science and Education with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The goal of the track “Science” is to form a community of leaders in scientific and technological development who share common values and are ready to take responsibility for managing the country's scientific and technological development.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov commented on the start of the project and the new track: “Today we really clearly recognize the acute shortage of managers for universities and scientific organizations, and we have been dealing with this issue together with the Russian Academy of Sciences for several years. They even made up their list of personnel reserve, in which more than 1.5 thousand people. This year, the first stage of the school of future managers in Moscow was launched. I very much hope that the new initiative will allow us to significantly increase the capabilities of our reserve. From the experience of the first selections, I have no doubt that in the near future we will see people who are ready to take responsibility for solving various really complex tasks. ”
Among the partners of the competition are the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, RAS, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Research Center "Kurchatov Institute", MSTU named after N.E. Bauman, Moscow Aviation Institute, Skoltech, Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NUST “MISiS” and other leading universities and research organizations, technology corporations.
Assessing the importance of the project, the rector of the Ivanovo Polytechnic University, Evgeny Rumyantsev, noted: “The competition“ Leaders of Russia ”is precisely that type of competition in which participation is much more important than victory itself. This is, firstly, a way out of the comfort zone and the opportunity to test your knowledge in parallel with tens of thousands of other people, secondly, it is a powerful internal incentive for personal growth and, finally, for many, these are serious career prospects both in their regions and in their universities. ”
Indeed, the winners of the competition will get a chance to take internships and take managerial positions in leading Russian universities and research organizations, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and relevant regional ministries, positions of heads of RECs, scientific and educational projects, become a member of the Coordination Council, etc. They will have the opportunity to adopt the best experience of the leaders of Russian science: the winners will be mentored by members of the Presidential Council on Science and Education, heads of major universities and research organizations, heads of corporations and leading Russian scientists.
